Dr Kristopher Lyons
Consultant Cardiologist
I am a consultant cardiologist currently working in the Northern Health and Social Care Trust. I specialise in non-invasive imaging including advanced echocardiography and cardiac MRI. I obtained my medical degree from Queens University Belfast and undertook an advanced imaging fellowship at Wessex cardiothoracic centre in Southampton. In 2013 I obtained a postgraduate MD focusing on the study of heart failure biomarkers. I am a fellow of the Royal College of physicians.
I have been a consultant for 10 years and currently hold the role of clinical director for cardiology. I am also a clinical tutor for Queens and Ulster University medical students.
My subspecialty interest is cardiac imaging, particularly echocardiography and cardiac MRI. In my usual practice, I primarily investigate patients with chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, blackouts and family history of cardiac disease. I also manage patients with known coronary artery disease, heart rhythm abnormalities, valvular heart disease and heart failure. I do not perform coronary angiography or electrophysiology studies but can refer for these procedures.
MB BCh BAO, MD, FRCP

Accreditation in cardiac MRI from SCMR
