Dr Ann Marie McShane

Consultant Rheumatologist

Dr McShane is a Rheumatology and General Medical Consultant currently working at Antrim Hospital. She has established an acute rheumatology service within the general medical department at Antrim Hospital and is also the lead consultant for the NHSCT Osteoporosis Secondary Prevent Service.

She has obtained EFSUMB Level 1 Ultrasound Certification (Oct 2019). She uses musculoskeletal ultrasound both in the diagnosis and therapeutic intervention in inflammatory arthritis and other soft tissue disorders (joint and soft tissue injection/aspiration).

The clinical service offered by Dr McShane encompasses all aspects of adult rheumatology, including rapid diagnosis and treatment of all types of inflammatory arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis, as well as diagnosis and management of osteopenia and osteoporosis. Degenerative arthritis (osteoarthritis), soft tissue disorders (frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, etc.), and connective tissue disorders are also within her clinical remit.
