Dr Daniel Butler

Dr Daneil Butler is a GP and clinical academic. He completed his medical training in 2014 at the University of Manchester. Over the last ten years, he has worked in a variety of clinical specialities in both England and Northern Ireland. These include Emergency Medicine, Cardiology, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Psychiatry, General Medicine, Urology, and General Surgery before specialising in General Practice in 2018.

In January 2022, he was appointed Research Fellow with the Northern Ireland Clinical Research Network for the UK-wide clinical trial – PANORAMIC (Platform Adaptive trial of NOvel antiviRals for eArly treaMent of COVID-19 in the Community).

In January 2023, he was appointed as an editorial fellow for the British Journal of General Practice and the BJGP Open.

Daniel is currently on the Northern Ireland GP Performers List. He works as a Sessional NHS GP and within the Northern Trust GP Out of Hours service alongside his academic research. He is currently completing his PhD with the Centre for Public Health at Queen’s University Belfast.
