With extensive training in Emergency Medicine and Major Trauma, I am content consulting with patients sustaining most injuries and illnesses. I frequently consult with patients involved in Road Traffic Collisions, falls, workplace injuries, assault and poisoning. I am content to briefly comment on the psychological impact of trauma. My training included paediatric emergency medicine, and I am content to consult regarding injuries to children.

I was educated at Queens University Belfast graduating from medical school in 1994. I have worked mainly in Emergency Medicine, with several years training in General Surgery, Paediatrics and Obstetrics/ Gynaecology. Most of my speciality training was in N Ireland, with a year spent in Yorkshire. I became a Consultant in Emergency Medicine in 2010 at the Belfast Trust.  I became director of Trauma at the BHSCT around 2015 and implemented important changes in trauma care. I became clinical lead for Major Trauma in N Ireland and remain so to date, improving care with the introduction of the Major Trauma Centre, Helicopter Emergency Medicine service and NI Major Trauma Network. I began practicing Medico Legal medicine in 2010 and have continued to do so to date. I run a weekly clinic in Belfast. I also helped Kingsbridge Hospital develop their Minor injuries unit. 

My qualifications are MB/ BCH / BAO / FRCS (A&E) Edin/ FRCEM
I am currently the Assistant Medical Director at the NI Ambulance service since early 2024.                     

I enjoy golf, cooking, painting and Martial arts holding a first degree Black Belt in Judo. I am a physician at UK and Ireland events for the UFC.
