Cardiologist
The clinical service provided by Dr Petrou at Mid Ulster Clinic incorporates assessment of patients presenting with chest pain/angina, palpitations, breathlessness and syncope (blackouts), in addition to management of patients with known cardiac conditions, such as heart failure, cardiomyopathies, valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease and cardiac arrhythmias.
He can provide cardiac assessment and clinical screening in cases with a family history of cardiac disease.
Dr Petrou has a special interest in cardiac imaging, including echocardiography (ultrasound imaging of the heart) and cardiac MRI.
Dr Petrou has worked as a consultant cardiologist at Antrim Hospital since 2019. He graduated with Distinction from University College London (UCL) Medical School in 2009 and attained an intercalated Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Sciences with Physiology.
Following this cardiology speciality training in Northern Ireland, Dr Petrou completed a year-long advanced cardiac imaging fellowship at University Hospital Southampton.
