Mr Hope is a consultant ear, nose, and throat (ENT) surgeon working in the Northern Health and Social Care Trust and has recently taken over the role of clinical lead. He has NHS clinical sessions in a multitude of areas throughout the region, including Antrim, Causeway, the Moyle, and the Mid-Ulster Hospital.
Mr Hope’s training has been broad, and he has gained experience from many units during his career. Following graduation from medical school at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, he moved to Northern Ireland to be with his now wife. His ENT surgical training has spanned a year in Lanarkshire, Scotland, in addition to many years of training throughout Northern Ireland. Following his entry onto the GMC Specialist Register as an ENT surgeon, he then spent a year in Dunedin, New Zealand as a Teaching Fellow, followed by a year working in Invercargill as a consultant surgeon. He returned to Northern Ireland with his wife and two kids to take up his post in the NHSCT.
On returning to the NHSCT, Mr Hope’s main focus of work is the breadth and generality of ENT conditions. His practice involves children and adults alike, from the consultation room to the operating theatre.
